Bush Believes….

When our Decider-in-C hief had one of captive audiences yesterday in Cleveland he was in his element. He just got down with his ‘people’ . His whole shtick was based on beliefs this hot, muggy day in the city and he wasn’t short any supporters.

God bless those insidious freaks for being able to sit through another ‘come to Jesus’ with our boy Bush. He used the term “I believe” over 70 friggin times yesterday. WTF?

I shat you not my dear reader..75 times to be specific. Please take a gander at just a snippet of his “I believe” speech. Elvis Presley should be singing in the background for Christ’s sake;

“I wouldn’t ask a mother or a dad — I wouldn’t put their son in harm’s way if I didn’t believe this was necessary for the security of the United States and the peace of the world. I strongly believe it, and I strongly believe we’ll prevail. And I strongly believe that democracy will trump totalitarian ism every time. That’s what I believe. And those are the belief systems on which I’m making decisions that I believe will yield the peace.”

First off, the lack of originality is glaring. At this point in the speech, you would start wishing for a buck each time the Asshat-in-Ch ief said the word. It had to stand out; he actually put an inflection on the word so it would.

Could I ask a question? Who gives a shit what he believes except his inner circle and the 20-something percent of the party faithful?

He is only fooling those folks that still believe in anything that tumbles out of his piehole. The rest shake their heads in disbelief that he sounds more like a preacher on a Sunday morning than the man that leads our nation in a time of grave crisis..of his own making btw.

If you are one of those 20-something s I would like to say this to you sir or madam; Congratulati ons for being able to hold on to your belief (there is that word again) in spite of all odds and common sense. The rest of the U.S. is laughing its ever-lovin ass off that you will applaud this jackass extraordinai re. Really, we are. Because not one damn thing this guy believes is supported by evidence in his favor. Not a one.

Take this belief for instance: He believes that calling on faith will see us through this war. Yes sir, that’s what going to win the war in Iraq for my dear reader. From the Shrubs own lips in his closing statement to the party faithful in Cleveland:

“I’ve got great faith in the power of liberty to transform the world for the sake of peace. And the fundamental question facing our country is, will we keep that faith?”

Sorry George, I lost faith in your ass a long time ago. And the vast majority of our country has as well. You can keep standing there proselytizin g about your beliefs, your faith in liberty and all the other bullshit spin you are so damn good at letting fly. I just have a hard time thinking that beliefs and faith in a higher being will end the hell in Iraq. It takes more than a belief in something to make it happen. Just because you believe doesn’t make it a fact. And we all know how you feel about facts.

They just get in the way of your beliefs and your faith. Damn shame ain’t it?

But thanks for the pep talk go win the fucking game. Because when it’s all said and done..this is nothing more than a game for you until your term is up. Sadly for the rest of society, that can’t come soon enough.

  1. Test comment.

  2. Hi Dusty, By ‘believe’, as he uses the word, he’s not talking about religious belief so your picture of Jesus slapping Bush for his repeating "Jesus!", "Jesus!", "Jesus!", seems out of place. Clever but not really on point since he isn’t referring to Jesus or to faith in Jesus but, rather, to faith that freedom and democracy are stronger motivators and empower better than oppression and tyranny. That faith may be well or poorly founded but it really has nothing to do with Jesus. Perhaps a more apt graphic would have lady Liberty (as in ‘The Statue of’) slapping Bush and telling him to stop it.

  3. By the way, I’m still unable to get paragraph breaks to appear in my comments.

  4. He mentions God in the speech Craig. You can paint as rosey a picture as you want, its your right.

I ain’t buying. Did you watch the speech?

  5. Dusty, No I didn’t watch it. I read it, though. His mention of God is precisely analogous to Thomas "Wall of Separation" Jefferson’s "…endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among
these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." I don’t hear anyone talking about Jesus slapping Tom about that.

  6. If you only read the transcript you missed his inflection and his whole shtick on this topic. He sounded like a Sunday morning Preacher speaking to his flock from the pulpit.

I ain’t his ‘flock’ and I don’t buy his crap And to use religion to sell us his phony bill of goods is bullshit sir.

    Thanks my two cents.
