Weird Mood

Perusing the headlines today, I came across two that left me laughing.

Snow falls on Baghdad for first time in memory — Rueters

Massive US Air Attack South of Baghdad — AP

Laughing isn’t the right word I guess. Whether it’s our planet struggling, or the deaths of so many for vanity and greed, forged in an unholy alliance built of lies and deceit, nothing that happens in Baghdad is natural.

We have to stop this. All of it.

I’m sorry. I don’t understand. We need to stop killing Al Qaeda militants? Why? These are the terrorists that have been blowing up mosques, marketplaces, killing Iraqis willy-nilly. These are the bad guys.

I’m sorry, Jet. I have no sympathy for them. Neither, apparently, do the Iraqi Sunnis that assisted and approve of the bombing. Remember the Iraqi Sunnis? Those are the ones that used to be fighting against us. They’ve tasted life under the AQ crowd and have rejected them. They were probably the ones that pointed out the AQ safe houses to us. I can’t go along at all with your call to end this. This above all is what we should be doing, in my opinion.

And what’s the deal with ending the first ever snow in Baghdad? I don’t get that at all. I mean, it’s not like we can create or prevent snow from falling…at least, not that I’ve heard.

And the Iraqi’s appear to have a quite different feeling about the appearance of snow in Baghdad. They seem to like it. At least that’s the impression I get from the article you linked.

And why is this in the National News section? Is this a story from Baghdad, Iowa? :^)

Both of the articles referenced should be hailed as good news. One shows we are winning the war in Iraq against Al Qaeda and the other shows we are winning the war against global warming.

All those compact flourescents have saved the planet. We can deal with the mercury poisoning later… much later.
