Which Is More Dangerous To Your Health: Al Queda or The Department of Homeland Secuirty?

Good question. Here’s an article that can unpack the answer for you:

An intriguing new study suggests the answer is not so clear-cut. Although it’s impossible to calculate the pain that terrorist attacks inflict on victims and society, when statistician s look at cold numbers, they have variously estimated the chances of the average person dying in America at the hands of internationa l terrorists to be comparable to the risk of dying from eating peanuts, being struck by an asteroid or drowning in a toilet.

But worrying about terrorism could be taking a toll on the hearts of millions of Americans. The evidence, published last week in the Archives of General Psychiatry, comes from researchers who began tracking the health of a representati ve sample of more than 2,700 Americans before September 2001. After the attacks of Sept. 11, the scientists monitored people’s fears of terrorism over the next several years and found that the most fearful people were three to five times more likely than the rest to receive diagnoses of new cardiovascul ar ailments.

Could it be that all of the W, Rove and Co fear mongering to push their War Machine forward has done more damage to the People of America than Al Queda could have done or dreamed of? I think the answer to that is a “You bethcya.” How do we hold the President accountable for that?

  1. Yeah… it’s really like FDR said, “This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nam eless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.”

Fear is toxic - it causes heart disease, as noted in your post, and it lowers immune functioning in general - that increases the occurrence of every kind of sickness from cancers to arthritis. In the realm of the mind, it leads to depression, and that’s an often life-threate ning problem that’s reaching epidemic proportions in America too.

To inflict fear on people for the purpose of political gain is evil. To relish the process, as Bush so visibly does in many of his speeches, is sadistic and perverted.

“By their fruits ye shall know them” - the fruits of this Bush administrati on (like the fruits of Reagan and Bush Sr. before him) are vast increases in death, poverty, sickness, and misery for many people, all to give more money and power to a tiny minority who already have so much they can’t even count it. Culture of life, my ass - George W. Bush is the most effective propagator of the culture of death this world has seen in this generation.

  2. You know what fear I think people live under more than another terrorist attack? That in 10 years NYC is going to be under water because of Global Warming or if a Republican becomes president black people will have go to the back oof the bus again,or the evil corporations want to take advantage of all it’s workers, that the illegal immigrants are going to be rounded up and shipped back home. That Bush doesn’t care about old people. That it is the evil mortgage companies that made you lose your house.

I don’t believe it’s Bush that put the fear of terrorists in people I think it was more that people witnessed airplanes flown itno 2 of the US’ largest skyscrapers and saw them tumble into the biggest scrap metal yard this country has and seeing people jump from 70 stroy windows. I believe that was enough.

  3. I forgot the most omportant thing. That people are most afraid of talking on the phone because your evil governement is spying on all your conversation s. You know they hired 300 million people so each one can listen in.

  4. While the 9/11 attacks are frightening, the danger to the typical person is almost nonexistent, but just as local news reporting has greatly increased its coverage of violent crime over a span of decades while the rates of that kind of crime have actually gone down, thereby increasing the fear of crime while the actual risk has diminished, the Bush administrati on and their organ-grinde r-monkey media have kept the terrorist attacks in the public’s face for years and years; waved multicolored terror alert flags and shrilled about how we need to buy duct tape and plastic sheeting; and made it sound as if we were up against enemies more dangerous than the Axis was in WW2. Then they’ve held themselves out as the only people who could protect us from the awful terrorists. That’s how they’ve used fear to manipulate.

As for hiring 300 million eavesdropper s, that would have been necessary pre-computer  , but they could now monitor all calls with far fewer people because there is voice-recogn ition software capable of picking up key words in conversation s and flagging those conversation s for monitoring, just as they have been found to be using similar software to monitor e-mails and blog entries for key words and tagging those communicatio ns to be checked.

  5. Monitor but not listening as everyone makes the public think. More fear mongering. So would you prefer ignored terrorism like Clinton did pre-9/11? And look where it got us. One Iraqi form the 1993 WTC bombing feld back to Iraq. Things that make you go hmmmm….
